I did not start my career in a boardroom or office. I started in a ditch with a shovel, with deadlines, and the expectation that the job would be done right the first time.
My Plan for carter country Ask a question
I grew up right here in Carter County, and like many families, we didn’t have much. My mother raised three kids on her own, and there were times when we struggled just to get by. This community stepped in and helped us through some of the hardest years of our lives.
We didn’t have running water or indoor plumbing. We used an outhouse, and we carried water by hand. I remember getting my clothes from Caring and Sharing hand me downs from people who didn’t know me but cared enough to give. I remember standing in the cheese line for powdered milk and government cheese. I remember the food stamps that helped us stretch groceries through the month, and the churches and outreach groups that made sure we never went hungry when times were tight.
Carter County didn’t just help us survive, it helped shape me. I had mentors who showed me what a good man looks like, how he carries himself, how he treats people, and how he gives back. This county taught me responsibility, humility, and the value of hard work. It gave me the best years of my life and helped me grow into the man I am today.
Now, I’m running for Mayor because I believe in giving back to the place that gave so much to me.
And I want to be clear: This isn’t about the six figure salary people keep talking about. It’s not a stunt, not a plea for votes, and not a bribe. It’s a simple thank you straight from my heart.
I’ve been fortunate enough in my life to reach a stable financial place. Because of that, I can give back in a way that honors what this county did for me as a child. That’s why, if I am elected Mayor, I will donate from my salary every dollar I earn above $100,000 back to Carter County for all four years of my term.
And because I want that money to go where it matters most, I’ve already decided how it will be divided:
50% will go to our volunteer fire departments, the men and women who give their time, their sleep, and sometimes their safety to protect our homes and our families. Their service is priceless, and this is one way to show how deeply they’re appreciated.
I did not start my career in a boardroom or office. I started in a ditch with a shovel, with deadlines, and the expectation that the job would be done right the first time.
That is where I learned discipline. That is where I learned accountability. That is where I learned respect for the people who make things happen. I know what real craftsmanship looks like.
Over the years, I have been a project manager, a safety director, a construction manager, Safety Manager and managed budgets. I can read contracts, manage the contractors, and control the budgets. This knowledge allows me to make certain the county receives quality work at a fair price.
I know how to get contractors to compete through bidding, to build efficiently, and to keep costs down for the taxpayers.
Mismanaged projects with delays cost real money resulting in a burden to the taxpayers.
I have coordinated contractors, engineers, inspectors, and agencies to deliver work that lasts, not work that just looks good on paper. Let us make sure taxpayers get what they pay for. I know how to spot hidden costs, prevent sweetheart deals, and hold vendors to their commitments. If you’re spending public money, you owe the public results.
When something goes wrong, I do not point fingers. I will fix it.
I have handled budgets where every dollar matters. I understand contingencies, cost control, and long-term planning because I have lived it, not studied it from a distance.
I have worked in public safety and construction safety, and I am an OSHA-certified instructor. Safety is leadership, starting at the top.
As mayor, I will bring real oversight, real discipline, and real results:
Avoid the noise and get authentic updates straight from the campaign trail.
I will work every day to bring new industries into Carter County so our children and grandchildren can thrive right HERE at home. I will drill down into what land we have available, get it shovel-ready, and make sure we’re prepared to compete. I will partner with our local trade schools and colleges to prepare our children for the industries we attract. I will lift up local businesses, so they can grow, hire, and succeed.
